Short answer
An art business was buying boxes from large UK manufacturers and foam inserts separately from Europe, then bringing the two together itself. Barton Jones Packaging now manufactures the boxes in-house at Letchworth, sources the foam and assembles the complete pack, so the customer's team only has to insert the artwork.
The challenge
The customer relied on large UK packaging manufacturers to produce their boxes, while purchasing foam inserts separately from Europe.
This meant managing different suppliers for components of the same pack. The boxes and foam needed to come together before the packaging could be used, leaving the customer with the coordination and assembly involved.
There was an opportunity to simplify the process by bringing responsibility for the complete pack under one supplier.
The solution
Barton Jones Packaging took over supply, manufacturing the boxes in-house at our Letchworth premises and sourcing the foam inserts to go inside them.
This gave the customer one point of contact for both elements of their packaging. They no longer needed to purchase boxes from one supplier and arrange foam separately from Europe; our team managed the supply of both.
Manufacturing the boxes ourselves also gave us direct control over that part of the process, with our production and sales teams working together to fulfil the customer's requirements.
Taking care of assembly
Once box and foam supply were in place, we offered to handle assembly in-house too.
Our team prepares the boxes and fits the foam inserts before the packaging reaches the customer. Each pack arrives assembled and ready to receive the artwork.
For the customer's team, this removes the task of putting the packaging components together. All they have to do is insert the artwork into the finished pack.
