Short answer
FEFCO is the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers. Its four-digit codes describe box construction: the first two digits give the family (02 = slotted cases, 03 = telescopic, 04 = folders and trays, 07 = ready-glued, 09 = inner fitments) and the last two identify the variation.

Why the code matters when you buy
Quoting a FEFCO code removes ambiguity. Instead of describing a box over the phone, you can say 0201 in 44 ECT double wall at 400 x 300 x 250 mm internal, and any manufacturer in Europe will produce the same thing. It also makes comparing quotes fair.

- What is a 0201 box?
- The regular slotted container: a four-flap shipping carton where all flaps meet in the centre and are taped closed.
- What is the difference between 0201 and 0427?
- 0201 is slotted and taped; 0427 is die cut with a tuck-in lid, giving a neater retail-ready pack without tape.
- Do you make all FEFCO styles?
- We make the vast majority of common styles in-house at Unit 3, and can advise if a design needs a cutting forme.
