Business Development Manager

Barton Jones Packaging are a well-established supplier and manufacturer of corrugated cartons, bespoke boxes and a large variety of packaging. Based in Letchworth Garden City, we are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to be a core part of the sales team.

The successful candidate will inherit existing accounts and will be targeted on the acquisition of new accounts, with the focus on new business development.

The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, ideally with good technical knowledge of corrugated and packing materials. Any transferable sales background will be considered.

• Generate sales with existing and new customers through a structured, disciplined and professional approach to achieve performance results.
• Actively identify and seek new business opportunities in various markets.
• Use own initiative for cross-selling opportunities.
• Develop a strategic and tactical model for business development, identifying new opportunities for solutions to fit potential customers.
• Build and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
• Maintain a strong and honest work ethic with the drive and motivation to thrive in a demanding sales environment.
• Deliver excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Use competent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Email) as part of daily activity.

• Proven sales or business development experience.
• Ideally technical knowledge of corrugated and packing materials.
• Self-starter with the ability to use own initiative.
• Strong relationship-building skills at all levels.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Competent IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Honest work ethic and the motivation to succeed in a demanding sales environment.
